Autism

    Autism is a developmental disorder that appears in the first 3 years of life, and affects the brain's normal development of social and communication skills. Most parents of autistic children suspect that something is wrong by the time the child is 18 months old and seek help by the time the child is age 2. The signs usually develop gradually, but some autistic children first develop more normally and then regress. It is distinguished not by a variety of symptoms such as impairments in social interaction impairments in communication, restricted interests and repetitive behavior.
      Children with autism typically have difficulties in pretend play, social interactions, verbal and nonverbal communication. Adults with autism may be overly sensitive in sight, hearing, touch, smell, or taste. They may have unusual distress when routines are changed. Also, they perform repeated body movements and show unusual attachments to objects. Some communication problems may include cannot start or maintain a social conversation. Also communicating with gestures instead of words. Often people who suffer from autism develops language slowly or not at all. Sometimes they do not refer to self correctly, for example they say "you want water" when they mean "I want water". They often repeats words or memorized passages, such as commercials and use nonsense rhyming when speaking.
    Social interactions can also be affected in those with autism.They do not make friends, do not play interactive games, and are withdrawn. They may not respond to eye contact or smiles, or may avoid eye contact. They also may treat others as if they are objects. Those with Autism prefers to spend time alone, rather than with others. Which leads to their lack of empathy. They often will withdraw from physical contact because it is overstimulating or overwhelming.
