ANIMAL RIGHTS ORGANIZATIONS IN THE PHILIPPINES AND THEIR CONTRIBUTION TO ANIMAL WELFARE

Animal rights, as we understand it today, exists and depends on how to protect and take care on it. This information would enable the people to know the importance of animals in the environment and in our society. It is obvious that animals need protection from us. That’s also the reason why there were people who want to give their support to the animal welfare. The government of the Philippines also made a law regarding to the animal rights so that the people will be alarm to promote and help save the animal kingdom.
The Philippine government usually determined the rights of every animal. There are many people who abused the animal rights, especially those people who were fond in torturing animals and also those people who burst all their hatred and anger to the animal. Clearly, the animal will suffer from it. In doing such crime, the people who committed the crime may be punished by imprisonment of not less than 6 months nor more than 2 years or a fine not less than one thousand pesos nor more than five thousand pesos or both at the discretion of the court. If the violation is committed by a juridical person, the officer responsible therefore shall serve the imprisonment when imposed. If the violation is committed by an alien, he or she shall be immediately deported after service of sentence without any further proceedings.
The people in the urban area are the one mostly doing animal crimes. There were a lot of records and issues regarding animal abuse in urban areas. There were issues about dogfights, whale slaughtering and etc. Not like urban, rural places have different views about animals. Rural people tend to care the animals; they view animals as a friend. Animals in the rural areas help the people in their work. They give value in everything they do with the animals. For the people in the rural areas, animals were one of the reasons why they survive....
