BEING A SCOUT AND ITS BENEFITS
From history to the last decade, scouting has become widespread among children and teenagers in lots of places in the world. Scouting includes a variety of different things. It has entertainments, technical education and personal education which help people to improve themselves and change people’s point of view. Scouting enlightens people not only in terms of know-how but also in terms of the environment. Young people are taught different things about the environment through scouting. From primary schools to universities, young people have become scouts because of different reasons. While some of them are looking for sports, some of them are becoming scouts because of its entertainments or technical education. From scouting establishment in 1907 in the world to modern age, scouting has been bringing people mainly two benefits.
Scouting enlightens people about the environment. First of all, people gain environmental consciousness through scouting. People learn not only to recognize the environment but also to be sensitive about the environment. Young people learn how to protect plants and the environment by doing scouting. Camping is a part of scouting. Therefore, when people go to a camp, they become within the environment and this situation provides people with a closer examination about the environment. In this way, people are taught to protect plants and the environment. They become more sensitive people about their surroundings. By going to camps, people are also becoming familiar with animals and they learn to love them. They may avoid become a predator in the future after learning to love animals. Scouting means becoming a sensitive and conscious person about one’s environment or surroundings. Accordingly to these, people are being familiar with the environment and they learn it better.
