Nothing in Biology Makes Sense Except in the Light of Evolution
The theory of evolution by natural selection was proposed by Charles Darwin in the 1800s, and his book, On the Origin of Species published in 1859, in which he provides evidence for natural selection as the process by which evolution occurs.   Evolution explains the striking similarities in different organisms, the changes that occur in populations, and the development of new species.   We now, of course, have much more evidence supporting Darwin’s theory.   This theory has a substantial amount of evidence to support its claim. Scientists are no longer debating whether evolution happened (Newton).   The theory of evolution is now accepted as scientifically true in the scientific community.   A theory in science is the highest form of proof you can get; if you want to go any higher, you have to enter the realm of mathematics.   To the majority of scientists, evolution is a scientific fact.   It is so much a fact that researchers depend on evolution to study antibiotic resistance, artificial selection, new diseases, and to develop new drugs.   Evolution is “just a theory” like the cell theory, the heliocentric theory, the theory of plate tectonics, the theory of relativity, the theory of gravity, etc (Science).   These are all “just theories;” yet the majority of the human race accepts these as scientifically true.   The theory of evolution, just like other theories, should be considered true.
There are people who choose to ignore the facts of evolution.   There are some who believe that Creationism—people who believe that God created everything—is the cause to our vast variety of organisms.   There are also some people who believe that organisms did evolve by natural selection, just not   humans.   Some of evolution’s biggest critics, however, are those who choose to think that Intelligent Design (ID) is an alternative for explaining the origins of our species and of other organisms.   ID is neither scientific...
