Is beauty really in the eye of the beholder as they say? Is it the beauty of the body or the spirit? Many questions go through peoples' mind when they think about the true meaning of beauty. After all, in every culture people have sought to change the natural appearance of their bodies, they reshape and sculpt their bodies and adorn them with paint, cosmetics, clothing, and jewelry. These customs, however, are different and particular to a culture at a specific period, so it changes from generation to generation.
Nowadays, in the western world there is this concept that beautiful women are stupid and arrogant. Yet, this is as far from the truth than it can ever be since there are plenty of beautiful women that are both physically and spiritually beautiful. Although, people say that they care more about the beauty of the soul but the reality is that most people do not even bother themselves to even look beneath the skin. And this was proven by our Prophet Mohammed peace be upon him when said:” Women may be married for four reasons: her wealth, her ancestry, her beauty, and her religion…" and part of the reason when someone is choosing a spouse is the beauty of a woman or man. Indeed the term of beauty of the soul has lost all its meaning, especially in our material world that cares about nothing but image.
On the other hand, have you ever stumbled upon a situation, where you have met people with beautiful faces but their souls and actions were hideous. Moreover, what if you are given the choice of marriage between two people, one is beautiful, and the other less attractive, what would your choice would be without knowing the nature of any of them. Still, beauty is something that everyone strives after we cannot ignore the beauty of the image at first glance, but do not you wish if that affect last more one moment.
