EDUCATION AT A COST
With the +2 results out and people rushing to reputed colleges with bag loads of money, what is to happen to the hard workers? Yes, they get colleges in counselling. Yet the ridiculous cut off percentages literally ‘CUTS OFF’ the passion and dream of many. The current scenario has so developed that the over achievers of 96 – 100% and the under achievers of below 70 % get easily accommodated in in reputed colleges while the average has easily ‘accommodated’ the achievers of 70 – 95 %. Have parents, the faculty and the world realised the hard work the average need to put?   While there are souls out there who care a damn about their studies and their family, there are many who give up their dream just for the reason that their family can’t afford it. We hear stories about students whose marks though very low, have been admitted in reputed colleges – just adding on to the family’s burden of loans. Yes, educational loans are out there to help out the needy. But how many are feasible and useful for the public or to be more precise – the student? IF MONEY CAN BUY YOU A GOOD SEAT, THEN WHY DO WE NEED TO BURN OUR MIDNIGHT OIL DURING 12TH? WHY HAVE SUICIDES INCREASED DUE TO EDUCATION? It is not because the student is dumb, it is because that college seats have become vegetables in the current world. Education has not its value due to the mugging system; it is because MONEY RULES OVER EDUCATION. The DAY when COLLEGE SEATS ARE STOPPED FROM BEING SOLD TO WHOEVER CAN AFFORD IT and are OFFERED TO THOSE WHO KNOW THE WORTH OF HARDWORK, Education will win its Glory back. Till then we have to endure ‘destroyed dreams’ and ‘depressed students’.
