                          The relationship between public and personal problems is both intriguing and worthy of discussion.  While society is capable of spawning waves of contagious and opinionated conclusion, it also offers the opportunity for mass discussion and weighted resolution.   Individuals, on the other hand, tend to address personal problems alone or with the help of a small circle of acquaintances.   While offering the opportunity for premeditated objective observation, it also lacks the diversity and knowledge base which is available in larger groups. Our diverse population makes it hard to pin-point what should and should not be adjusted and improved upon because each opinion varies. Certain things to reflect on when differentiating the two would be to focus on social systems rather than individuals, to consider an abundance of opinions, and also to note the severity of the issue. A crisis usually has to affect a large number of people before it is considered a “public problem” or social problem.  One example of a social problem would be our education system.
                          Our education system could be considered a public problem because it affects our entire country. Outdated and restrictive curriculums release herds of graduate sheep each year failing to secure adequate numbers of both traditional and innovative careers.   This failure stunts both the growth of our nation and erodes our position as a world leader. While fostering a more unbridled and creative education system, we could get up off the sidelines and become a true contender in a global market.
