  2. Identify the barriers to effective interpersonal interactions.
  3. Describe the process by which self-concept is developed and maintained.
  4. Assess their personal communications and improve their communication competencies.
  5. Develop strategies for active, critical and empathetic listening.



The world of Communication has certainly changed in the past twenty years. We now have a different way to meet people all over the world without leaving the U.S. In the past ten years I have noticed the change in the way others meet their mates and establish relationships that seem to last longer and end in marriages that seem to work better than the traditional way. In our busy world of careers and the demands of our busy life styles, it seems like the most logical and twenty first century way to get the right partner or if you prefer the partner of the hour. When dating online you only have communication to build on. One is not hindered by their looks or feelings of inadequacy because their visuals have been replaced with relying on different types of communication. I have a couple who I think really need help in this matter.

Dear Mark and Mia,
Like it or not, here is some advice to you for a successful relationship. As you know I am taking a class in Interpersonal communication. Did you know how many misconceptions there are about this? I know you think that Mark needs this more than you do, but that is not true. We all fall short of correctly knowing how to make ourselves understood by others.
