The Case against Tipping

I find it compelling that he is forgetting that we live and operate in a capitalist society. We have the right and freedom to make money, As much as we can. Although his points are very valid to a certain extent we are not required to give over the amount asked of us and we should not be made to feel bad for doing or not doing so. One of Lewis’s concerns that had particular merit to me was the fact that we are paying someone to do what they are already paid for. In a Starbucks or coffee shop situation I agree, but in a restaurant situation I do not. Most waiters and waitresses are paid below minimum wage and they receive their true income from their tips. I think it is only right that we allow them to earn a fair share for their income. I...
