Adversity
    There many things that have made an effect in my on my life to have made me the man that I am today. Adversity is something that I have come by many times. My understanding and overcoming of adversity is something that is giving me the opportunity to go on and succeed in college.
Adversity is the hardship in which you are challenged with something. I defend the quote by Horace which follows: “Adversity has the effect of eliciting talents which in prosperous circumstances would have lain dormant.”
    Adversity is something that people have to overcome in their lives. When people go through adversity, it’s usually something in their way that is trying to stop them from reaching a certain goal. For example, a Baltimore ravens football player Michael Ore. He was a person who had a drug addicted mother, no father, and was left alone to live on the streets. But he had a passion for sports. Once he was taken in by a family that put faith in him to succeed, he did good in school and in football. Eventually he made it to college and the NFL. This is adversity and the overcoming of adversity because despite the hardships and obstacles in his path, he surpassed it all and made something of himself.
  Adversity is not only something that can be in your way on the path to success, but can be in your way once you make it. For instance, a minority that has made it to something big in life, as in a doctor, lawyer, politician, etc., can have many people that are looking for them to fail. Discourage them. Say they are not fit for a high authority job. It takes will power and confidence to overcome all the adversity and prove them worthy of the job they are doing.
    Based on what is being presented, adversity shapes you. It brings out your talents and pushes you to succeed. If it was not for adversity, some would probably not have explored their talents and found themselves. This is why I strongly agree with Horace’s quote that “Adversity has the effect...
