DIGNITY OF MAN

      Man is defined by the Scholastic Philosophers as a rational animal,an animal with a reason.   Reason puts man at the top of the hierarchy of material world.   Because of reason, man has a better understanding of the world he lives in.   He or she can connect the relationships of events or actions that lead to a particular situation.

      The cause and effect approach to human experiences lead to the systematic foundation of knowledge.   It is the knowledge that sees beyond what is visible.   it is a knowledge that realizes what has been conceived of by the mind.   The iron or steel are made to fly,move on land and water,because of this knowledge.   space has ceased to be a limitation to communication.

        Man's value exceeds that of corporeal things.   In fact, man is beyond the commerce of man.   Because of the potential of man's mind and its creative power, man is a valuable asset if   its power is unleashed.

        Real power lies in the unseen world.   material things are valued only according to the perception of the person who finds its usefulness.   They don't have an intrinsic value.   It is the mind of man that gives value to it and its uses.   on the other hand, reason or the mind is not visible.   its capacity and potential is immeasurable and beyond determination.   A Pauper today may be a king tomorrow.   There is no limits to mind's capacity.

        What is then man's dignity?   Man is the convergence of two divergent concepts, the material and the immaterial or spiritual world.   Man is the only creation with the capacity to create or produce as the case may be.   A creature whose mind is free not bound by space and time.   putting value on the physical aspect of man alone is often deceived by his or her senses.   Man's true value cannot be seen by the naked eye.   as Antoine de Saint-Exupery wrote in his book "The little Prince", what is essential is...
