Behind every singing voice on the radio, there’s a creative writer at the helm. And behind that source of creativity there is a global leader in the music entertainment industry. While the company was built up from smaller labels in 1929, Sony Music Entertainment came to be on January 1st of 1991 (Reuters, 1990). Since then they have grown to become one of four global leaders of music entrepreneurship. It’s the success and determination of an ever-growing powerhouse like Sony that can only lead to inspiring artists and makers of music.
Rarely does a thriving company create success in days. Hard work and a persistent professional attitude go a long way when combined with talent. That’s definitely advice an aspiring entertainer can utilize and take to heart. Luck doesn’t keep a company around and growing for almost 20 years. It is savvy business know-how and a set of standards and guidelines that keep a company like Sony Music Entertainment afloat. That kind of experience is without a doubt critical comprehension for those who desire to grow and firmly succeed. My goal pertaining to the knowledge that I am gaining in school is to employ it to a future calling in the music industry. Making music use to be the only criteria one needed. A big company like Sony will avoid slipping up when they can. All material they plan to release will be thoroughly reviewed. An artist should make sure their product is original or in the case that it isn’t, give proper credit due. Make sure you are willing to be responsible for your media and be able to take the criticism that ensues. However, these days a voice and a set of lyrics are not enough to combat the growing market and competitors. To gain an upper hand, it is wise to look at the whole process of music production. What to do with the music should be an equally important aspect of music-making. And that is where marketing...
