Curiosity can lead to growth and maturity through a series of events including desire to find truth through discovery, the ultimate truth, and revelation of secret. First, Curiosity can lead to growth and maturity through the desire to find the truth as Axel and the professor wonder what is hidden behind the secret runic code. For instance, the curiosity causes the professor when he is “frowning, ‘but it is a code of some sort, and I shall decipher it” (Verne 12). Interesting codes are desirable to crack and the passion to solve the puzzle will reveal the truth. Second, Curiosity can lead to growth and maturity through the desire to find the truth as Shri Krishna educates Arjun on his duty to fight the Kaurava. For instance, Arjun does not wish to fight and Shri Krishna says “sukha-duhkhe same kṛtvā lābhālābhau jayājayau tato yuddhāya yujyasva naivam pāpam avāpsyasi” (Swami Prabhupāda 110). The reality in life is fight for the sake of fighting, without considering happiness or distress, loss or gain, victory or defeat and by doing so you shall never incur sin. Third, Curiosity can lead to growth and maturity through the desire to find the truth of the hidden secret of a journey to the center of the earth. For instance, when Axel finds the truth of a possible journey he exclaims “[a] journey to the center of the earth – it is madness” (Verne 28)! A ridiculous claim by some scientist captures the desire to find out if that person was right. Curiosity can lead to growth and maturity through the desire to find the truth.

Indeed, Curiosity can lead to growth and maturity through the desire to find the truth. First, the need to discover the truth in puzzles builds interest. Second, the need to fight leads to education of the ultimate truth. Third, the revelation of the secret leads to a journey to the center of the earth. While curiosity can lead to growth and maturity through the desire to find the truth so can the exploration of the unknown.
