Joining the Military
Joining the military whether it be the Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force or National Guard is a
big decision to make in your life. Not only are you not going to be able to see your family and friends
for a while, but you're most likely going to shipped to another state or country. It can very dangerous as
you are all well aware of, you run the risk of getting shot, being blown up, run over or falling from a
height that can seriously injure you. Don't fret though, you can and do get some really good
compensation for your service.
If you're thinking of joining the military right after high school ends I would step back from the
plate rethink your present plan and future plans and then decide to go to college before joining. The
reason I say this is that if you're going to college while in the army or before there's a chance that you
can qualify for a full ride, essentially the government will pay for your college education fully. I have
done some research for the army, as I am thinking about joining, but I haven't looked anything up on
the other branches. To qualify for this full ride you need to be between the ages of 17 and 26, have a
high school GPA of 2.5 or better, have a HS diploma or equivalent, score a minimum of 920 on the SAT
and agree to accept a commission and serve in the Army on active duty or in a reserve component.
After completion of the requirements you will have some commitments to the Army. You will have
an eight-year service commitment with the Army, serve full time in the Army for four years and four
years in the Individual Ready Reserve and selected cadets may choose to serve part time in the Army
Reserve or ANG while pursuing a civilian career. If you choose this route you can experience college
as a single man or woman and when you go to basic training you're enlisted as an officer. Some of the
disadvantages are repaying student loans and life happens right? The longer it...
