The 2007 film, Talk To me, captured a symptomatic content and subgenre of comedy
through a radio talk show personality in Washington, D.C. . On a platform, a film inspired by a true story with academy award nominee Don Cheadle, and actor Chiwetel Ejiofor. The technique, art form, as well as the director’s vision for the film, the audience can embrace the historic cultural aspects of this particular film.
Talk To Me, based on the life of a two times Emmy award winner television and radio-talk show host Ralph Waldo “Petey” Greene Jr. and co-producer/director Dewey Hughes screenplay by Michael Genet. The story takes place in the United States capital of Washington, D.C. . However, director Kasi Lemmons and Michael Genet work very well with capturing the overall setting of the looks of the late sixties and early seventy of Washington, D.C. . The obvious choice was Washington, D.C. since the screenwriter Michael Genet story was based on the events that occurred in the city (Kasi Lemmons, 2007). Director Kasi Lemmon, alone side costume designer Gersha Phillips recreated the fashion image of the seventy for a logistic setting for the main characters. The culture trends of the afro as well as flamboyant cloths and music of that era. The director utilizes the camera with long shot to give an audience a view of a cultural setting during seventy of Washington, D.C. . Furthermore, the props showed an audience the director vision of telling time in detail, without putting the years within every scene (Kasi Lemmon, July 12, 2007).
The production designer Warren Alan Young worked on created the intimate setting that allowed the director Kasi Lemmon to uses cinematography technique deep focus on the Washington D.C. riot.
