The Columbian Exchange is also popularly identified as the Grand Exchange. It is measured that the Columbian Exchange was a noticeably prevalent exchange of animals, plants, culture, human populations that patently including slaves, transmissible disease, and ideas between the American and Afro-Eurasian Hemispheres following the journey to the Americas by Christopher Columbus in 1492. The native people were absolutely ill-equipped for such exposure and suffered severely in consequence of the Columbian exchange.
The Columbian Exchange is far and wide considered as one of the most important results of the Age of Exploration and the First Global Age... Food products, livestock and diseases are said to be but three chief elements of the Columbian Exchange. The Columbian Exchange particularly benefited the people of Europe and its colonies while bringing disaster to Native Americans. The Columbian Exchange obviously brought new diseases and existing diseases to the new land that in particular causing large number of deaths owing to the unprotected Native Americans' immune system not recognizing the illness and fighting it off.
The get in touch with between the two areas circulated a broad variety of new crops and livestock which supported increases in population in both hemispheres considerably. The exchange of plants and animals changed European, American, and Asian ways of life. New foods developed into staples of human diets, and new growing regions opened up for crops. The Columbian Exchange shaped huge increases in food production and human populations, but it also damaged the ecological stability of vast areas, enlarged erosion of the land, and guided to the loss of many life-forms. While many elements of the Columbian Exchange can be considered as positive but it contains new food supplies, livestock and better diets. Negative aspects comprise diseases which wiped out American populations, and eventual invasion of the Americas by Western European nations.
