CAREER FAIR PLAN

EDU 533-33 Online
Dr. Cypress
October 31, 2010

Rationale (Purpose)
This career fair will provide the framework to provide secondary school students the opportunity to make informed decisions about their knowledge, skills, interests and values as it relates to many jobs and the military. This fair will also allow for students the chance to fill out employment application to places they are interested in being employed by, provide them with information about the different branches of the military, provide them with information about different surrounding colleges and their admissions process, and provide the students with financial aid information. The career fair will equip students to make better informed decisions about their professional futures and too encourage motivation for students to engage in their own research about different employers. Secondary students need the information to begin researching what their goals will be beyond high school.
Process
The career fair will be located in the gym. Half a school day will be provided so that all students will be able to participate in the career fair. Calls will be made to local hospitals, colleges and universities, military branches, state departments, non-profit agencies, and local governments. Tables, chairs, and any other special equipment will be provided to the guests. Fliers, mail-out, and possible advertisements on radio and television will be used. Each secondary grade level will get the opportunity to spend time at the career fair. Seniors will have the opportunity to go first. Employers will position themselves against the gym wall with the military branches rounding out the rest of the wall. Colleges and universities will be placed in booths in the middle of the room. Students will have time to check out every booth and also be provided time to fill out applications and be a part of interviews on the spot.
Projected Outcomes
