      In deciding what unique company, I was to use for this discussion. I made my decision based on a company that I worked for in a past work environment. The company I chose is Alcoa Inc. Alcoa, is a company that has been on the New York Exchange (ticker symbol: AA) since 1951. I have recently and on an everyday basis, checked the status of trading on this company since 1993. My interest began when I became involved in the aluminum process and production of forged aluminum wheels when employed by an associated company B & C Research.


      The Aluminum Company of America, an acronym for Alcoa is the largest producer of alumina. Alumina, a powdery oxide of aluminum refined from bauxite ore and used to produce aluminum, provides the basic materials we need to produce a wide variety of everyday   products. Alcoa is the worlds leading alumina supplier-the only supplier with smelter and chemical grade alumina available from multiple sources around the world.


Competitive Forces


      Alcoa is the third largest producer of aluminum, with operational headquarters in Pittsburg Pennsylvania, and oversees operations in 44 countries. Alcoa produces and markets several aluminum products, and is involved with both the domestic and international markets.   Alcoa employs approximately 129,000, with a net income 22.48 billion, and revenue of 30.4 billion. While Alcoa is the third producer of aluminum products, its competitors are many.


      Alcan, a Canadian based company, leads in sales and was once a subsidiary of Alcoa, now is a subsidiary of Alcoa’s biggest competitor Rio Tinto.                                                                                   Rio Tinto, a mining company combined with Alcan control the world’s largest aluminum...
