To be eligible for PMP examination, a person need to possess the required experience of 3 years of non-overlapping projects/ 36 months unique non-overlapping professional project management experience during which at least 4500 hours are spent in directing or assisting project tasks if he/she holds a bachelor's degree OR Minimum 5 Years/60 months unique non-overlapping professional project management experience during which at least 7500 hours are spent directing or assisting project tasks if he/she holds a diploma. In addition to this, he/she needs to have formal 35 contact hours education. The 35 contact hours of PM Education can be obtained from PMI chapters, PMI authorized training centers or PMI REP (Registered Education Providers).
