Why Am I Here

A question seldom asks and commonly taken for granted. Who cares? There are bunch of things in this huge world that’s worthy of anyone’s attention and that’s needed to be done. Well, that’s life. Busy here and there catching every minute with duties, and what not- pleasure, games, friends and many more.

Once my mom asked me together with my two siblings, “Why are we here?” We staggered, we didn’t knew the answer. Then she told us, “We did not exist in this world without any purpose. While it is true that we did not choose to be born but our parents did, yet it is God who formed us in our mothers’ womb and gave us life. His purpose, she said, that we glorify Him who made us, and enjoy with Him forever. That whatever we do, whether we eat or drink, we do all for the Glory of God.” Those astounding truths though weighty but came to my shallow thoughts lightly. They were like deep mines and I had no eager desire to dig for the treasure.

The sun shone brightly in my bed one morning and my mind was blank. But then suddenly like a wind swept over me, a thought came as a flash. It was the question mother asked us and I began to contemplate “Why Am I Here?” If I’m to glorify God how am I supposed to do that? As I turned my head into a corner, I saw my Bible. Our father taught us the Bible is God’s word and it’s written for our instructions. I have been reading it since my early elementary years as far as I can remember but, without deep eagerness. So I said to myself, “I have to read it more and this time with seriousness.” I need to be guided how to glorify God and enjoy him forever.

As I journey through this life, I pray God would grant that I should learn to please Him with all my life and be faithful in all that I do. That He will change me and give me faith that I may learn to live a life worth truly living.
