Intent: reduce and reuse material resources and reduce construction waste, and encourage the selection of building materials that are environmentally preferable
  MRP1- STORAGE & COLLECTION OF RECYCLABES
  (Waste reduction & Recycling Management)
  Storage & Collection of Recyclables is Prerequisite 1 for obtaining Material & Recourses credit.
  This item is required before a building can even be considered for any Materials and Resources credits- can obtain up to 2 points.

  Existing conditions of Humber college:
  Currently Humber college has a very efficient Waste & Recycling process in place and also have a
  dedicated team of waste management personnel to spread awareness.
  As part of its action plan:
  ● Humber has introduced food composting in all of its culinary labs also food waste is collected in services kitchens & cafeterias for an offsite compost program.
  ● Cooking oil used in campus kitchens is recycled into biodiesel.
● Collection & Recycling of   electronic waste.

  OBJECTIVES FOR IMPROVING THE SUSTAINABILITY PERFORMANCE OF HUMBER:

1. To enhance the existing recycling management at Humber by developing and implementing a   Waste & Recycling Management Plan that promotes:                                                                                           ● minimisation of waste                                                                                                                                   ● an infrastructure for reuse and recycling                                                                                         to achieve- The Ultimate Goal of A Net Zero Waste Campus.
2. Paper Reduction & Elimination
3. Better utilize recycling bins already distributed campus wide.
4. Introduce campus recycling into core curriculum & appoint recycling champions to raise awareness
