Characters: Goliath was the champion of the Philistines. He was a man who was 9 feet tall! Every morning for forty days, the mighty Goliath challenged the Israelites for someone to come out and fight him, but none would go out. David was the eighth and youngest son of Jesse, from Bethlehem. He was a strong, healthy boy. He was a Shepherd. He was brave and strong. He would fight the wild animals, even lions and bears that preyed upon on his flock.
Settings: The legendary battle in which David was to kill the mighty Goliath is placed on the border between coastal Philistia and the inland kingdom of Judah.
  * Plot: King Saul heard about David, he called for him. David explained that he had been fighting fierce animals all his life. David continued, "The LORD that saved and delivered me out of the claws of the lion and out of the claws of the bear will deliver me out of the hand of this Philistine named Goliath.” Saul was convinced. He said, "Go”, and the LORD be with thee." So King Saul put his own personal armor on David, and put a brass helmet on his head and gave David his sword. But David decided not to wear any of it. He said, "I cannot fight with these things. I've never used them before." So David took it all off. Then he took his staff and chose five smooth stones out of the brook and put them in his shepherd's bag. He also had his slingshot in his hand. So David with his slingshot and his 5 stones walked up to Goliath and put it through his forehead and killed him.
Theme: The theme is even if we have huge problems in front of us, but if god is with us all problems can be solved.
