Should Governments Ban Violent Video Games?

Video games are one of the sources that people use to entertain themselves. There are many types of video games and violent video games are the most widespread. Violence in video games has a bad influence on people especially young people. Violent video games can change a person’s personality from good to bad. Furthermore, video games can waste money, time and teach people bad words and bad manners. Researchers proved that people who buy video games are increasing every year, and more likely kids who tend to buy violent video games are increasing also. Many people believe that violent video games should be banned because they are inappropriate to play with. I believe that governments should act and start banning violent video games because what they have of bad impact on children, waste a lot of time, waste money because they are expensive and their effect on person’s social life.
However, some people think that violent video games have some benefits and should not be banned. For example, people support violent video games like Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood because it increases critical thinking. Gamers will not be able to finish the game by using normal thinking. They must go further than that and use critical thinking a lot to solve hard missions. Secondly, people think that video games especially violent ones help increasing IQ. And scientists proved that “Certain types of video games can help to train the brain to become more agile and improve strategic thinking” Queen Mary, University of London (2013, August 21).Playing video games can boost brain power.
