The Dead Poet’s Society
The Dead Poet’s Society is a very inspirational movie that tells us a group of boys are very curious on how life lives by its own. John Keating, the new English teacher in Welton Academy Hallway. It was started inside the class on how he interpret his ideas to give courage what they really want to do in their lives. He taught them in a way that inspired them and encouraged them to do better. By giving another deeper definition of words on how they understand it that others may know it. Although Neil and Todd seem to have responded to life very differently, both Neil and Todd have similar reactions to their peers, to Keating, and to "carpe diem". Neil reacts to his peers as though they are in the similar situation as him and that he could relate to them. His situation is that his parents control his life making every decision for him without asking him. He sees the same thing happening to his roommate Todd, so he offers his friendship to Todd by inviting him to attend the study group. Neil also listens to Todd's problems.
Later on, the boys had found out about the The Dead Poet’s Society that Mr. Keating himself was a member back then, it was a secret club dedicated to taking the meaning out of life. The idea of this thrilled the boys so they decided to start up the DPS once again. So this is were they started their meetings and throughout those meetings, each character is able to develop his own romantic or realist nature. You will find out here in this movie, what happens when a few idealistic students find themselves confronted against conservative forces that resist all change including the drive for personal self-determination.
It is very interesting that every person seeks freedom even if it is killed. Like Knox Overstreet says “seize the day even if it is killed”, he doesn’t care what will happen to him just tell his feeling to Chris because he’s in love with her.
