The foundations for becoming an effective teacher perhaps lie within professionalism and ethics. Professionalism can be divided into six distinct categories; these are academic, legal, ethical, professional, personal and cultural professionalism. According to (Whitten et al., 2010) this is a good starting point because teachers need to reflect upon what professionalism means for them and how it will affect their teaching practices. 
Effective leaders in school need to have insight and vision to shape the future and success of that organization. A great leader with vision will have great understanding of educational needs. Translating passions and values to students will have them respecting you. Energy will create energetic kids in return and inspire kids to put their best effort forward .Professionalism and ethics play a key role in defining attributes of quality teaching. Effective teaching practices require the teacher to be aware of their own strengths and weaknesses. The teacher should also be aware of the student (Harden and Crosby, 2000) and the learning environment. (Killen, 2005) 

The teacher should be aware of their own personal attributes and qualities. (Whitten et al., 2004) There are several qualities that the effective teacher should strive towards. These include traits such as enthusiasm, patience, organization, confidence and commitment. (Killen, 2005) The professional teacher needs to develop their communication skills, demonstrate active listening and offer encouragement to the student. (Whitten et al., 2010) Wesley describes the building of relationships with parents and peers as a way of becoming a better teacher. (Wesley, 1998) This may explain why the popular teachers generally have happier and more productive students.

The teacher needs to consider the audience, the demographic of the class. How old are the students? What are their interests and abilities? How well do they interact together? How well do they know, trust and respect...
