The Green Side of Everyone

Envy. One of the seven deadly sins, a sin that infects a person in several forms. The feeling of wanting to have what someone else has. This is also defined as painful or resentful awareness of another's advantages. Envy can be found in almost anywhere you look, and that in itself is a sad fact.

Have you ever asked yourself if you're happy with what you have? Envy is present in the world in two different expressions: 'wanting what someone else has because it is better than what they have or what they don't have', and 'putting somebody down who is supposedly too good for them or more talented or smarter than them'. To make themselves feel better or above that person, they put them down, hurt their feelings, making them look bad or embarrass them. The time someone begins and continues to be envious of what others have is a horrible characteristic. It makes them become worse instead of becoming better.

One effective way to combat the recurring effect of envy is to put in mind to be whoever you are because everyone should live their life accordingly. We should remember that nobody is perfect and everyone has their own strengths and weaknesses. If we all learn to look at each other as equal, we could realize how well we could coordinate our lives together, and all will live in peace and happiness.

Quoting from the book, 'Tuesdays with Morrie': "If you are trying to show off for people at the top, forget it. They will look down at you anyhow. And if you are trying to show off for people at the bottom, forget it. They only envy you. Status will get you nowhere. Only an open heart will allow you to float equally between everyone." This line tells us that God does not want us to be envious of what others have because He gave each one of us different blessings so that we can use it properly and to inspire others to do better in our lives.
