A lot of people have an attitude that involves a lot of “ifs” and “buts”. This kind of attitude often becomes a huge hurdle in the path that leads up to success. People who welcome everything with either an “if” or a “but” are essentially the people who are quite unlikely to succeed in life.

Why is that so? Experiencing different things gives people an edge. Going out and involving themselves in various kinds of activities gives   them a lot of experience and knowledge about various things. Since no knowledge ever goes to waste, one never knows when their experiences might come handy. Thus, people who are always ready   to be on the go are more likely to succeed. On the contrary, people who are always stopping themselves by providing an excuse or who are always indulging in arguments based on ifs and butts, often lose out on some of the best opportunities in life. These people let go of chances which can teach them some very good lessons. And without the important lessons, these people lack the basic strong foundation which is important for gaining success.

When a person puts the clause of an “if” or a “but”, they restrict themselves from doing things that should otherwise be done and which they are usually capable of doing. Thus, people should make a   sub-conscious effort of turning every “if” and “but” into something more positive. Every time there is a situation where an “if” or a “but” comes into your mind, replace it with an “I should”.   Paul J Meyer who developed principles of personal development and professional excellence said that, “Success is the progressive realization of predetermined, worth while, personal goals.”   And the fact is that this realization begins to dawn only when people start taking steps and begin to do something. People, who sit with one leg resting over another all the time do not ever realize their potential, calling or goals. Even when they realize it, their in activity becomes their biggest reason of failure.
