It is true that in the information age, newspapers still has its place as reliable information sellers, but I believe they are not as important as they used to be. They will eventually see their disappearance because of the sweeping rise of the Internet.

For a long time, newspapers are regarded as credible source of information. This is because newspapers hire a number of professional reporters, columnists and other contributors. These professionals undoubtedly produce articles with better quality than online amateurs do. From this perspective, newspapers are still serving as a trustworthy source of information.

Nevertheless, newspapers are on the decline irreversibly due to the fact that news consumers, particularly the young people are changing their reading habit. These non-newspaper readers usually demand instant access to update-to-minute information. The printed papers are, however, too late to satisfy their curiosity while the Internet media quickly avails them of information 24/7 at a click and at no cost. Also, the richness and diversity of online information is even beyond our imagination and can be presented in a more vivid way by the assistance of multimedia. Considering these features, newspaper is by no means a substitute. Furthermore, the power of the Internet is amplified with communication technology advances, and such trend has been accelerating the fall of newspapers. For example, nowadays people can conveniently read news via the mobile phone and other devices that have connection to the Internet. Having inherent advantages in term of timeliness, convenience and cost, the Internet media has been emerging as an essential medium for people to get information in the digital times.

In conclusion, newspapers could hold their position as one of the important sources of information for the time being, but in the long run, they will be phased out and replaced by electronic news media.
