Commodification of all events.
Women's day , fathers day, daughters day, valentine's day etc etc 365 days a year, something is everyday. In our endless chores  and time constrain lives we need to re-assert our relationships and express our feelings and so these days give us the right opportunities. But I simply ask why all this hype about it, why are we celebrating it with so much of pomp and show, so materialistic and glamorous these events have become that the show has become more important than the subject.
Now we are celebrating women's day like never before. the public, the media , the corporate houses are making money   on it. Twitter Fb  what's app the hoardings  is all ablaze with messages endorsing it, everybody is talking about empowering liberating and glorifying the women, awarding and applauding the feisty women from all fields. Does inspiration and motivation come only from people in the top positions....sometimes it's just a publicity stunt. I for example am so deeply inspired to live life king size by none other than my maid Radha who does laborious work from dawn to dusk and than is the victim of physical verbal and sexual harassment at the hands of her man.She may have been beaten black and blue and yet come morning and she is all brightly dressed  and is swaying to the rhythm of aanarkali disco chali from her loud mobile. She greets you with a sunshine smile as if she has no worry in the world. We have so much more at our disposal yet we complain so much, she has helped me to appreciate life and enjoy it.
We really need to sit back quietly and rationalise that does liberation to us dose'nt  mean giving up on ethics like compassion compromise tolerance and humility which defines an Indian women. Aren't w we disfiguring  our mothers image
