The Anzac Involvment at Gallipoli Campaign

For today’s essay I will talk about why the Anzac involve in the Battle of Gallipoli. Actually the plan is planned by the British to attack the Western Front e.g. Germany by attacking Turkey, Germany’s new ally. The plan is to force the battleships entering the Dardanelles strait and to attack Turkey’s capital Constantinople. The Gallipoli campaign for the Anzacs is very important because they were helping their ally Britain to defeat Germany. They arrived at the Anzac Cove on 25 April 1915. They were trained and defense themselves in Egypt and they form themselves to be ANZAC (Australian New Zealand Army Corps). The first wave to come from Australia and New Zealand about 16000 troops all weapon equipment such as artillery to force the Turkish troops comes out with long distance fire weapon. The second wave came with about 27000 troops at Anzac Cove. On 19 May 1915 about 40000 Turks fire the Anzac line and they were unsuccessful and the Anzacs and the Turks paid a number of people wounded and dead and both sides agreed to stop the war, so they could bury their dead and collect the wounded. The British decided to try a new tactic. The Anzacs were attack the Turkish strongholds at Lone Pine and the Nek in the hope to get attention about 30000 British troops who were land at Sulva Bay. The Turks were never far away at that time as close as 30 meters in some places. Hand grenades, sniper and long distance artillery were constant threats the Anzacs. The fight was happened for four days and the Anzacs suffered about 2000 casualties and the Turks suffered about 6000 casualties. By the end of December there were about 26000 casualties of Anzac troops including 10000 deaths. However the result is the Ottoman Empire won the War with huge total amounts of casualties. The ally’s combatants including the Britain, Anzac, Indian, France and Newfoundland suffered about 150000 casualties and the Ottoman Empire suffered about 253000 casualties.
