The three most significant absolute monarchs in European history were: Elizabeth I from England, Phillip II from Spain, and Louis XIV from France. Elizabeth I was a freak, Louis XIV was a brave king, Phillip II was an ambitious king. Elizabeth I was born in 1633 and ruled from 1558-1603, Louis XIV was born in 1638 and ruled from 1643-1715, Phillip II was born in 1527 and ruled from 1556-1598.

Elizabeth ruled England from 1558-1603, she was a great ruler, and people loved the way she ruled. Louis XIV ruled France from 1643-1715, he was a protestant but he became Catholic because the majority of France was Catholic, he was very interested of being king, he wanted people to think that he was a person who cared a lot about his country   and about his people. Phillip II ruled from 1556-1598, he had a lot of palaces, he was a selfish king.

Elizabeth I never married or had children, she was the last of the Tudors (her last name), after she died, the people of England fell sad and confused because they didn’t know who their next king was going to be. Louis XIV reigned for 72 years, he was the greatest ruler France ever had, he was a greater ruler than Elizabeth I. Phillip II married to his cousin Princess Maria of Portugal, he might have being a Protestant, there were a lot of problems in Spain because he was a protestant.

Louis XIV did not liked to be called king, he thought that “King” was a strong and great word, he did not feel like he was great or strong because king was a word used for powerful people. Elizabeth I used thick layers of make up, she felt young and pretty, she liked to propagate her self. Phillip II fought and conquered many cities and countries, he wanted Spain to be the richest country in Europe, Phillip II wanted to be the richest king of Europe of his time.
