Morals

Morals; what are they? To some, nonexistent but to others, everything they live their lives by. Our morals come from a distinction in the back of our psyche that tells us what the right thing to do is and what is the wrong. Pertaining to, or concerned with the principles or rules of right conduct or the distinction between right and wrong; ethical. Throughout the play, Macbeth, morals play a key factor in the narrative. When Lady Macbeth poses the question of King Duncan’s murder she also poses the question of Macbeth’s manhood and braveness - his morals is also questioned and manipulated among the rest. When you durst do it, then you were a man, and, to be more than what you were, you would be so much more than a man. (1.7.54-56) why do morals often make decisions for us? As I stand here today I will endeavour to explain to you what motivates people to use manipulation to try to control other’s morals, the consequences of doing so and whether this can ever be justified.
When Lady Macbeth influences Macbeth’s train of thought she manages to get him to murder the King. Macbeth’s morals may not have been all that great if it was as simple for Lady Macbeth to manipulate his thoughts with such a sentence as When you durst do it, then you were a man, and, to be more than what you were, you would be so much more than a man. (1.7.54-56)
