The US National Security
The terrorist attacks that occurred in the US on September 11th, 2001 affected Americans’ attitudes toward their security and national security. Throughout the history, the terrorism has occurred in the world, but today terrorism become more popular than ever before. Nowadays, we are familiar with the Arab and Muslim names, different types of terrorism. Also we have realized the serious damage from the terror actions. The long-term effects on the US and its loss from the terror attacks in the economy are massive. In order to fight the terrorists effectively, the US government changed their domestic and foreign policies. The US government enforced different kinds of measures and people have to cooperate with the government to fight the terrorism. Some people consider that the US government invades people’s freedom as they search for personal information. However, the US government should search for personal information to prevent terror attacks because terror attacks would cause serious damage.
  All the terror acts, which involve violence or the threats of violence would cause economic damage to the nation. The 9.11 event, which is the most violent terror attack in the American history, had the negative effects to the US in many aspects. In the article “Economic Impact of 9/11”, Larry Kahaner states that ”The total business interruption losses from the 9/11 attacks on the US economy were $109 billion, the decline in the Gross Regional Product for the New York Metropolitan Area was $14 billion.” Those statistics indicate that the terror attacks made the economic situation worse at that time. However, the cost of the terror attacks include much more than the sample values of the buildings. The indirect cost is that we have to spend more money on national security system.
