America repeated intervention in foreign affairs with Latin American nations left them feeling animosity since the Spanish-American war.   With all the attempts of the Good Neighbor Policy, from President Calvin Coolidge in 1923 up until now with President Franklin D. Roosevelt, Roosevelt made it clear in his inaugural address that, “In the field of world policy I would dedicate this nation to the policy of the good neighbor—the neighbor who resolutely respects himself and, because he does so, respects the rights of others.”
The purpose with the Good Neighbor Policy was to have good relations with its neighbors, especially at a time when conflicts were beginning to rise again, and this policy is more or less intended to garner Latin American support.   The simple principle is that nations should not intervene in the affairs of other nations and that their relations should be to the benefit of both.   With Roosevelt in office, his intention with foreign policy is to build an adequate international trade primarily to promote our nation’s domestic recovery.  
As for the sovereignty of Latin American nations, it is being undermined by other powerful nations, such as the United States, even though our intentions are meant to be in a peaceful way.   Constant interventionism is becoming more unpopular in the United States.   However, as an American anti-imperialist, I feel it is to imperialistic for the United States to intervene foreign affairs without the consent and proper process of branching of economical ventures in Latin American interests.  
With these interventions with Latin America and the fear over future political effects, it is causing a major form of resentment and creating different protectionists groups.   These expenses that the government are spending on raising military intervention to govern Latin American countries are aimless when domestically we are being significantly affected by the Great Depression.   The money that is being used for...
