Freedom is the enjoyment of personal liberty, of not being a slave nor a prisoner- says the dictionary. Freedom is also said to be in abundance in the United States, and is in need in countries over seas such as Iraq, or China. The U.S. is said to be the land of the free, and everyone is equal, with equal rights and powers. Is this true, or do we have limited freedom? In the U.S., sure you have the right to vote and the right to speech. However, you have to be at the age of eighteen or old
What is freedom? Freedom is the ability for every individual to have complete control of his life, the ability to make his own decisions. From the moment an individual wakes up in the morning to the moment he lays back down to sleep in the evening, thousands, if not millions, of choices have been made. Some of these choices have had negative consequences, and some of these choices have had positive consequences, but regardless of the outcome, there remained the freedom of choice. Too often, ones’ freedoms are encroached upon by someone or something else This encroachment can be both physical and emotional. Such circumstances can be very difficult to deal with and often times lead to hardship and emotional trauma. Sometimes it takes an external force or personality to come forward to help survive such instances.
  Youths Having It Harder Than Suspected Nanette Davis challenges the myth that today’ s youth have it easy in her chapter titled “ Youth in At-Risk society.” Davis shows that being a youth today is much more difficult than the imaginable. Youth have to go through numerous obstacles in their daily lives regardless of the benefits and commodities that youth today are blessed with.
