Encouraging and supporting childrens participation

In this essay I will be reflecting on the range of strategies used to encourage and support childrens participation.
I will do this from the directed task of observation, planning, implementing, and evaluating an activity and using the information to reflect on the range of strategies used to engage the children and facilitate their participation and learning. I will be linking my practice to different theories and looking at the research of  Ferre laevers [Leavers 1994I will also be reflecting on the document entitled, The Convention Of the Rights of the Child to Participate [CRC 1989] and looking at how this links to today’s Early Years practice 
 
First I will start with the reasons behind choosing the activity in the directed task [see appendix 1]. The children in the pre school room aged three to four years of age recently enjoyed the topic of caring for living things, human’s plants and animals, which incorporates Knowledge and Understanding of-- the world [Early Years Foundation Stage 2008] See [Append 1] using the childrens interest in this project the nursery staff arranged a trip to the local city farm to extend the childrens learning experience with live animals] Which links to [4.1 EYFS 2008] learning through experience. On the day of the trip three of the children were particularly interested in the hens laying their eggs [see append 2] from this information the activity was planned, implemented and evaluated [append 3] which links with [EYFS 3.1] Observation, planning and assessment]
 
  
When looking at the range of strategies that I used to encourage and support the   Childrens learning, it is paramount for the adult / key person  to start with knowing the child and building on what the child already knows and is interested in .This is supported by the EYFS 3.1   Knowing the child .
