Introduction

In this book report I’ll show you the story about The SignalMan, this is a short story by Charles Dickens, it’s about spectral appearance precedes a tragic event on the railway on which the signalman works. The signalman works at a signal box in a deep near a tunnel on a stretch of the railway line, and he controls the movements of passing trains, the signalman feels really bad because after the ghost appears a terrible accident happens. 

The Signalman.

The story begins when the narrator said “Hallo, Bellow there!” but the signalman doesn't look at him. The narrator shout again and said him if he can go down. The signalman answers and shows him the way. The signalman seems to have seen the narrator before but he tells him that is impossible, then, the signalman welcomes the narrator into his box and they begin to talk about the signalman’s work. The narrator leaves he promised to come back the next night. The following day the narrator returns, but this time he does not call as the signalman had asked him the night before due to that words disturbed him. The signalman tells him that he is going to reveal to him the reason of his problems, which is that he is haunted by a ghost. For this, the signalman is convinced, as it is about a sign that this apparition means a tragic event soon to happen. The following day the narrator visits the railway cutting and he is shocking when he sees a group of men investigating an accident on the line. Then the narrator realizes the signalman is dead after having been knocked down by a passing train. The driver says that he had tried to warn him. Unfortunately for the signalman, there had no much to do because as if just coincidence or something supernatural, the ghost had warned him several times before. The...
