At present, by virtue of monopoly business and acquisitions & restructuring, the global fluorine chemical industry have formed the top eight transnational fluorine chemical groups which mainly concentrate in the US, Japan and West Europe. These top eight companies respectively refer to DuPont, Solvay, Daikin, 3M, Asahi Glass, Arkema, Ineos Fluor and Honeywell, all of which account for 80% of the world output of fluorine materials and 70% of the fluorine chemicals.

China’s fluorine chemical industry started from the 1950s and after more than 50 years of development, it has formed the complete category and top four classes of product series, namely fluorinated alkanes, fluoropolymers, inorganic fluorides and fluorine-containing fine chemicals. As of the end of 2012, there were more than 1,000 enterprises that engaged in the fluorine chemical in China; the total production capacity of China’s fluorine chemical products reached 3.85 million tons with the output of about 2.42 million tons; China has become the major country of the global fluorine chemical production and consumption.

At present, the market concentration ratio of the top ten enterprises in the Chinese fluorine chemical industry is close to 40%, which is very high; the domestic enterprisers have some competitive advantages in the low-end fluorine chemical products close to the raw materials and have the weak competitiveness in the product fields with high added value, high processing depth and high technical requirements; such fields are basically dominated by the foreign enterprises.
