Task 3
Describe and explain how communication can be used to promote self esteem
Self-esteem is how a person feels about them and what they do. Someone with positive self-esteem will generally approach things thinking they are a good person who deserves love and support and can succeed in life. Someone with low or negative self-esteem will generally think they are not good at things, don’t deserve love or support and that situations will work out badly for them. Most children will have dips in self-esteem as they go through different stages or challenges in life. Starting a new school, moving house, changes in the family and many other factors can affect a child’s confidence.

  * You can raise child self-esteem by getting too there level and listening to them making them feel confidence about them self you need show children a positive body language.
  * tell them what makes them special to you
  * Help children discover and develop their talents, through school clubs, groups and activities
  * Ask them what makes you happy or what you want to be when you grow up
  * Value and respect
Each member of staff within a childcare setting has a responsibility for the children in their care for the children’s well-being, learning and development. Each child therefore is valued and respected by all staff showing that they respect each child as a individual, realising each child has different strengths and weaknesses
  * Value there chooses and help them get there
  * Allow children to make mistakes.
  * Allow and encourage civil disagreement.
  * Allow transition time from one activity to another.
  * Know how to say no, and be willing to say no and stick to it
  * Get down to their level
  * Respect their feelings and their emotion’s
