1.) Aretha Franklin-Mary J. Blige
Modern day Mary J. Blige can be much compared to “The Queen of Soul,” Aretha Franklin. Aretha Franklin is known for one of the best voices in musical history. She is one of the most famous singer, songwriter and pianist, born March 25, 1942. Mary J. Blige is an American recording artist, songwriter, singer, and actress born on January 11, 1971. Blige has received the World Music Legends Award for combining hip hop and soul in the early 90's, while Aretha Franklin ranked Franklin #1 on its list of The Greatest Singers of All Time by Rolling Stones magazine.   Both women have talents that were very similar, both women focused on the soul heart of music and the modern R&B.
    Mary J. Blige has earned the title "The Queen of Hip-Hop Soul" because of her raw gospel and R&B influenced vocals and delivery. By 2007, she had won six Grammy awards. Blige has not lost that soul as her career and personal life became more successful and happier.
    Aretha Franklin is a legendary, nineteen-time Grammy Award winning American soul, R&B, and gospel singer. Aretha has had two U.S Hot 100 numbers 1 singles with "Respect" and "I Knew You Were Waiting (For Me)". Her career has spanned over 50 years and 40 albums.
    Both women’s dedication to success through gospel singing leads them to be two of the most inspirational female singers of all time.

2.) Billie Holiday- Mariah Carey
Billie Holiday was born on April 7, 1915 and died on July 17, 1959. She was an American jazz singer and songwriter. Her vocal style, strongly inspired by jazz instrumentalists, this led to a new way for people to look at the tempo of music. Her unique style captured the attention of many people through her strength of music.   She was admired for her deeply personal and intimate approach to singing. Her distinct delivery made Billie Holiday's performances instantly recognizable throughout her career.
