Abstract
      Burkholderia pseudomallei is a Gram-negative, movable, non-spore forming, organism which lives on dead organism. It is usually found in infected water or soil. It is responsible for melioidosis, a communicable endemic disease found in the regions of Southeast Asia and northern Australia. It is transmitted in humans and animals when they are in direct contact with the organism in the environment through ingestion, inhalation or through open wounds. Although direct human to human or animal to human spread is rare but it generally occurs after contact with blood or body fluids. These body fluids may include urine, nasal emissions and milk. This paper seeks to analyze the Burkholderia pseudomallei in the lights of broad and diverse academic resources.
