Name of the book : The Five people you meet in Heaven
Author : Mitch Albom

‘The Five people you meet in Heaven’ is a fiction by Mitch Albom.   It suggests that heaven is the place for people to learn the meaning of their whole life.   It differs from our traditional thoughts.

At the beginning, it told the death of the main character, Eddie, who was a lonely war veteran.   Then, the whole story is around his afterlife in heaven.   It was to understand his life.   He met five people separately and they taught him good moral conduct and principles of life.

In the story, Eddie was hurt by his father.   In his heart, he thought that his father actually didn’t take care of him much.   After the lesson given by one of the five people in heaven, he finally understood the love by his dad.   He learnt to forgive his father’s wrongdoings.   I learnt that forgiveness is very important in our daily lives.   Noone is always right.

Love is also a great power.   Eddie met his wife Marguerite, who died before him, in heaven.   Marguerite taught Eddie that he should know how to love everything and everyone.   Love would not die and would live forever.   I learnt that we should treasure everything we have and love everybody we know.

There is a sentence that impressed me most.   ‘No life is a waste.   The only time we waste is the time we spend thinking we are alone.’   I agree with the phrase in the book.   It shows that all lives have their own values and meanings.   We should not waste our time on thinking something nonsensical.

Mitch Albom makes use of the story to tell us not to waste any time but to use our time to care about others.   Then happiness will be always beside us.
