RESPONSIBLITY
   
Responsibility may be defined as a duty or obligation to satisfactorily perform or complete a task, which is entrusted to us or created by our own promise. Responsibility also means committing ourselves – to lead, to create, and to solve problems and then following it through till the end. It involves taking risks and working hard. Responsibility should be instilled from a young age at home, in school, at the work place and in society. It is extremely important for everyone to know what their responsibilities are. If everybody were to be irresponsible, the world will be in great chaos and peace will be a treasure never to be found.

    We first need to be responsible for ourselves before we can be responsible for others. In learning to be more responsible, it is important that we know our limitations. First of all, we must have responsibility towards our own well-being. For example, our personal hygiene is important. We must ensure that we keep ourselves healthy by consuming a balanced diet and having enough sleep and exercise. As the saying goes, there can be no wealth without health. If we want to be successful in life, we have to be responsible for everything we do and ensure that we are completely healthy and in optimum condition to pursue our dreams. How are we going to be responsible for other people, if we are not even responsible for our own well-being?

Besides that, as a family member, a child’s responsibility is towards his parents and other family members. Not only must we be obedient and respect our parents but we must help them with the housework and look after them when they are sick or old. Parents are the people whom we owe our lives to and thus; we must always repay them for all their sacrifices. On the other hand, parents too have a responsibility to their children by providing proper shelter, food and security. They should be role models by creating a harmonious home environment where the family members can...
