Course Name : Field Trips and Seminars Course Description The course introduces the practice of the IS profession primarily through attending professional seminars and participating in field trips to computer industries. Students learn the various opportunities by which they can practice their chosen profession. Course Objective Discuss what constitute the practice of the computer science, information technology and information systems profession, opportunities in the field, career paths, and the role of IT in society. 1. Provide access to efficient and interactive learning of students through meaningful educational tours and/or field trips as required in their program requirement embodied in the approved curriculum; and 2. Provide quality educational tours and/or field trips relevant to the acquisition of the necessary knowledge, skills, and values for student welfare and development. 3. Broaden the students’ learning opportunities and a feel of the real world, therefore serving as a powerful motivator to strengthen the academe-industry linkage. (Article IV Section 6). Course Requirements Mid Term 1. For the seminars, attend at least (4) minor seminars that discuss topics relating to information Systems namely Use of IS in Business, IT Management, Software Development, IS Planning, Human Computer Interaction, and ERP Systems. 2. Attend two (2) major seminars organized by the class coordinator. Major seminar must be a whole-day event inside or outside the school premises. 3. For the field trips, visit at least (6) companies (within CALABARZON and NCR). Final Term 4. Students must arrange and attend at least (4) major seminars that discuss topics relating to information Systems namely Use of IS in Business, IT Management, Software Development, IS Planning, Human Computer Interaction, and ERP Systems or visit at least (4) companies (within CALABARZON and NCR).
