The novel I chose to reflect upon was Dan Brown's 710 page Angels and Demons. In this novel, Robert Langdon, a Harvard symbologist, is called upon when a scientist is killed with the word “Illuminate” branded onto his chest. He and the scientists daughter, Vittoria, must find a stolen vile of anti-matter before midnight or it will explode, causing the destruction of Vatican City. During this time, the new Pope is to be elected and the four candidates have gone missing. They are to be killed before the anti-matter explodes and each one will have an element, either water, fire, air, or earth, branded onto their chest. They must follow the clues left by the Illuminati on their "Path of Illumination". This takes them to four Roman landmarks where they can expect to find each candidate.
