The development of technology ushers in a brand-new era in which humans experience and attracted by the charm of the modernization, with a consequent diminishing of traditional skills and lifestyles. I definitely affirm the necessity and irreplaceable of the traditional practices persistence, instead of approving the presented claim that it is meaningless to preserve them.
Acknowledged universally, the technology exerts considerable influence on people’s traditional life ways and social traditional skills. What’s more, it seems that the higher a country technology development degree is, the lower its traditional applications degree will be. As a distinct example, the utilities of atomization and mechanization in traditional agriculture and industry result in millions and billions farmers and workers unemployed. The modern technology provides the maximum production within the minimum cost in a more efficient and effective way, which stands a significant contrast to the traditional skills and life ways.
Nevertheless, as “each icon has two sides”, technology has the downsides as well, hence, the maintenance of traditions is rational and reasonable. Medical advances, such as injection and vaccine, contribute to a large amount of death every year, while many traditional therapies like Chinese traditional medicine cure people more healthily and friendly. Similarly, although the improvements of modern technology bring various kinds of transgenic food to us, people still prefer to the intake of organic vegetables and meat from the health, natural and nutrition perspectives.
To sum up, having stated and analyzed of the two items above, I would say that the technology and traditional practices are not completely contradictory existences, but an interactive relationship. What we should do is that balance and apply both of them in our life and social development, in order to achieve a better life environment
