Nevertheless Cheat

Most students disapprove of cheating on exams but some nevertheless cheat. Describe Sykes and Matza’s techniques of neutralization and provide at least one justification for cheating for each of these techniques. 

Matza and Sykes theory states that, people know they have a morale obligation to follow laws, and that they have the same moral obligation within themselves to abstain from illegitimate acts. They found that when a person committed an illegitimate act, they must come up with a reasoning of why they did what they did. (Neutralizations) Matza and Sykes said that there are five (5) Techniques of Neutralization:
Denial of responsibility – A delinquent will say that they are the victim of circumstance and that they are pushed or pulled into situations beyond their control. “I am not responsible. It wasn't my fault!” 
Denial of injury – the delinquent believes that their acts really do not cause any harm, or they believe that the victim can afford the loss or damage. "No one got hurt. Why is everyone making a big deal about it; they have money!"
Denial of the victim – the delinquent views the act as not being wrong, that the victim deserves the injury, or that there is no real victim. "They had it coming to them! He deserved it.” 
Condemnation of the condemners - Condemners are seen as hypocrites, or are reacting out of personal spite, thus they are shifting the blame off of themselves unfairly."You have done worse things in your day! You have no right to judge me”
Appeal to higher loyalties - The rules of society take a back seat to the demands and loyalty to important others. "My friends depended on me, what was I going to do?!"

Justification for cheating: 
Denial of responsibility- “I WASN’T CHEATING! I WAS JUST STRETCHING MY NECK AND SHE PULLED THE PAPER IN MY LINE OF VISION.”
Denial of injury- “I know I turned in my brothers paper from two years ago it doesn’t matter you know I can write.”
Denial of the victim- I cheated on my boyfriend but...
