You might think that professor Yuan Longping is not widely known, but it seems that's not so true. Maybe he is not known to much Australians, but he is known among probably farming experts, and business people. In 1974 he and his team successfully cultivate a type of hybrid rice species which had great advantages. It yielded 20 percent more per unit than that of common ones, putting China in the lead worldwide in rice production. For this achievement, he was dubbed the "Father of Hybrid Rice."

The hybrid rice is called "Oriental Magic Rice" and this technology helped its grain export in a large scale. The export alleviates the food shortage of some Asian and African nations.At the present time, the hybrid rice by professor Yuan and his co-researchers has made the earth produce extra rice equivalent to food for 80 million or more people.

Professor Yuan is now working on his " super rice" which yields are 30 percent higher than those of common rice. I believe a great invention or technology must benefit of the whole world. Therefore the hybrid rice surely deserves the praise.

Yuan longping born in September 7, 1930. He is a Chinese agricultural scientist and educator, known for developing the first hybrid rice varieties in the 1970s. His "hybrid rice" has since been grown in dozens of countries in Africa, America, and Asia—providing a robust food source in high famine risk areas. He is called "The Father of Hybrid Rice". His contribution to the mankind is enormous. By his achievement, the Earth is able to produce extra rice equivalent to the food requirement by tens of millions of population.
