ANNUAL BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT 2010

The whole school sprang to life when it was announced that the much awaited “Annual Basketball Tournament” would be held on 24th November 2010 to 26th November 2010 in LGS Township II. Soon after the announcement, everyone became busy, playing his own role in the preparations of the match. The teams started practicing at their best, improving their techniques, putting in all their efforts, learning to work as a true team. The spectators were so excited; they were also preparing their posters and special ‘chants’ with which they could support their teams. The commentators were all ready to pull up the spirit in the audience. The host team; LGS Township II had made the best preparations for the “GREAT EVENT”
Finally, the first day of the match arrived. It was a fresh morning, the breeze had something new in it, there was excitement in every dew drop. I could feel innovation in everything. The arrangements were soon finalized and the teams arrived one by one. ‘LGS Cantt branch’ and ‘LGS E.M.E’ were the first competing teams for the day. Our respectful commentators were Kinza Nadeem and Sara Mannan. The match began as the spectators settled down and the captains of both teams shook hands, followed by the rest of the players. It was in itself a thrilling experience. The crowd could not get their eyes off the match, they moaned at fouls, roared at the baskets and seemed to be the original heart of the match. By half time, the scores were very close; Cantt was on 12 points while E.M.E was leading by point at a score of 13 points. In the second half, the Cantt branch seemed to make their comeback; they had come up with new strategies and identifying their opponent’s weaknesses, won the match by gaining a final score of 30, while the LGS E.M.E lost with a score of 19 points. After simultaneous cries of joy and moans of disappointments, warm up for the second match started. The teams looked forward to the second match...
