Once upon a time... there lived an unhappy young girl. Unhappy she was, for her mother was dead and her father remarried to an evil woman with two equally wicked daughters. But she had something neither of her stepsisters would ever have – true beauty. And for that reason her stepsisters despised her charms and treated her very cruelly. They clothed her in rags and they cut her long blond hair so that she too might be ugly.
Jealousy is a simple result of desire. It has always been around and is present throughout our history and our tales. It’s become a part of just what makes us human. And no matter how strong a person you are – how confident a king you can be – you too can catch the killer bug.
Cinderella’s stepsisters caught this vicious disease. They made friends with an absolute monster that prowls this earth and gobbles people up and swallows them whole. It can corrode your soul and turn you into something horrible.
Envy has the ability to control a person which makes it one of our most powerful emotions. But what makes it even more dreadful is the fact that it doesn’t hunt alone. It moves in packs. It attacks in an ‘emotional whirlwind’ where anger and fear prey on our minds.
Madness, they say, is one step away from genius, and so there is too, a thin line between a desired wish and bitter envy.
- Life is like a race, filled with checkpoints and finish lines. You may have a simple hope, a longed for goal, but sometimes people will outrun you, other times you may even lose altogether. And this is when the creature strikes. This is when even an innocent ambition can go sour- For envy is like a slow toxin that can creep up inside of you and consume your sanity. It can ruin your human nature, strengthen the animal nature and drive you mad.
But there is an antidote.
Jealousy has an arch nemesis. A graceful foe in the land of emotions – Love.
